Warner Bros. ‘Joker’ wins Oscar gold for best score and best actor

Warner Bros. critically-acclaimed and record-breaking “Joker” walked away with two Oscar wins at the 92nd Annual Academy Awards on Sunday.

Joaquin Phoenix won for best actor for his portrayal of Arthur Fleck, a failed stand-up comedian turned Batman’s most notorious villain, in “Joker.” It was his first Oscar win after being nominated three other times for his roles in "Gladiator," “The Master” and "Walk the Line." The actor dominated awards season with a clean sweep, picking up best actor wins at the Golden Globes, the Screen Actors Guild Awards, the Critic’s Choice Awards and the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA).

Icelandic composer Hildur Guðnadóttir also won for best original score for “Joker.” With the win, she became the fourth woman to win for scoring a film, following Rachel Portman for “Emma” in 1996, Anne Dudley for “The Full Monty” in 1997 and Marilyn Bergman for “Yentl” in 1984. Guðnadóttir also won a Golden Globe and BAFTA for “Joker.”
